Yul-Rae Cho
Mr. Yul-Rae Cho is the Second Vice Minister of MEST (Ministry of Education Science & Technology) since June 2012. His career in the MEST began in the year of 2009. In the MOST (Ministry of S & T) he served also as the director in the Planning and Budget Division in the years of 2001 to 2002 and in the Evaluation Policy Division in the years of 2005 to 2006 2008. From 2003 to 2005 he acted as the visiting fellow in the International Cooperation Division of the DG research of the European Commission in Brussels.
NSTC: Dr. Doh-Yeon Kim
Doh-Yeon Kim (Ph.D.) is Chairman of the NSTC (National Science and Technology Commission of Korea). As the Korea`s top policy-making body in the areas of science, technology and innovation, the NSTC is committed to strengthening national competitiveness, attaining sustainable development through science, technology and innovation, and contributing to the achievement of Korea`s national goal of global leadership in S&T. Before he took the chairmanship of NSTC, he was president of the University of Ulsan and Vice chairman of the Presidential Advisory Council on Education, Science and Technology and acted as Minister of Education, Science and Technology. Dr. Kim is currently also Fellow Professor of the University of Tokyo, Japan.
G. Schuette
Sts Dr. G. Schütte is the state secretary at the Federal Ministry of Education and Research since 2009. Beforehand he was Secretary General of the Alexander von Humbolt Foundation in Bonn in the years between 2004 and 2009 and severed as the Executive Director of the German-American Fulbright Commission in Berlin from 2001 to 2003 year. Also he was the member of the Expert Group “Benchmarking Human Resources” in the EU Commission.
Tae-Young Moon
Tae-Young Moon is present Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany. After he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1978, he served his diplomatic career at Canada, Kingdom of Thailand and Panama and United Nations in Geneva and New York. Before he was appointed as the Ambassador to the Germany, Mr. Moon was Spokesperson and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korea.
Dr. Soogil Young
Soogil Young (Ph.D.) is Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Green Growth which he co-chairs with the Prime Minister since July 2010. He is also the founding Chairman of the Green Investment Korea Forum (GFIK). Dr. Young worked at four major governmental think tank on economic policies during 1978~1998. During 1998~2000, he served as Korea’s Ambassador to the OECD, concurrently serving as Chairman of the Advisory Council on the Development Centre. After working at Kim & Chang, Korea’s law firm, as a senior advisor for three years subsequently, Dr. Young worked at the National Strategy Institute (NSI), an independent think tank on economic reforms, as President till April 2011. Since the early 1980s, he served on numerous governmental advisory committees, including on four Presidential commissions/committees. During 2006~2009, he served as Chairman of the Korea National Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation (KOPEC). He has written extensively on Korea’s development and international challenges.
Prof. Dr. Gunther Rosner
Prof. Dr. Gunther Rosner is the Research & Administrative Managing Director of Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research in Europe GmbH (FAIR), Germany. He is also the council member of European Physical Society (EPS) as well as the member of the Nuclear Physics European Collaboration Committee (NuPECC) of the European Science Foundation (ESF).
Dr. Se-Jung Oh
Dr. Se-Jung Oh is the President of Institute for Basic Science (IBS) in Daejeon, Korea. IBS is the main organization of the International Science and Business Belt (ISBB) project, a national growth network that combines basic science and business, designed to build a creative research environment to attract outstanding human resources.
Dr. Christian Linsmeier
Dr. Christian Linsmeier is the Group Leader of the “Plasma-Facing Material and Components” group in the Plasma Edge and Wall division at Max-Planck-Institut fur Plasmaphysik (IPP). IPP is conducting the Germany`s largest fusion device. Until 2011, Dr. Linsmeier was the Coordinator of the EU FP7 Coordination Action “Fusion Energy Materials Science - FEMaS”.
Dr. Sun-Uk Kim
Dr. jur. Sun-Uk Kim is the President of Ewha Womans University in Korea, the world's largest female educational institute. She is currently the member of consultation committee of constitutional court of Korea and the chair of Alumninetzwerk Deutschland-Korea(ADeKo) in Korea.
Martin Hyun
Martin Hyun was born in 1979 and studied politics and international relations in the USA and Belgium. He was the first professional player with Korean roots in the German Ice Hockey League. He belongs to the Bertelsmann Foundation network of managers with a migration background, and has been writing the "Integration in a 16:9 format" column for MiGAZIN, a magazine for migrants since 2010. In the same year he also set up the Hockey Is Diversity intercultural initiative with the aim of extending the wide cultural variety that has long been seen as an asset in the world of sport.
KETEP: Dr. Nam-Sung Ahn
Nam-Sung Ahn (Ph. D.) is President of KETEP (Korea Institute of Energy Technology Evaluation and Planning). KETEP was established in May 2009 by the Korean government under “the Energy Act” to underpin the development of innovative energy technologies through the implementation of effective planning, evaluation, and management of national R&D programs for energy. Before he took the job at the KETEP, Dr. Ahn was Associate Professor for Technology Innovation at the Solbridge International School of Business.
KIER: Dr. Jooho Whang
Jooho Whang (Ph.D.) is president of the KIER (Korea Institute of Energy Research). As the President of the KIER, he has focused on building the institute as one of the promising global energy innovators. Under his presidency, the KIER has set up 6 major R&D areas including renewable energy for distributed power generation, heat energy network, CO2-free, clean fuel, next-generation battery, and energy materials for conversion. Besides his presidency in the KIER, he serves the country as a member of the National Science and Technology Commission, the National Energy Committee, and Vice President of the Korea Society for Energy Engineering. He is an athletic man, serving as Vice President of the Korea Cycling Federation.
KRICT: Dr. Mihye Yi
Mihye Yi (Ph.D.) is vice president of KRICT (Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology). KRICT is established in 1976 for R&D and implementation of chemical technology in Korea and has fueled the growth of Korea's chemical industry. Today, the institute is focusing on the development of key technology, seeking to enhance the citizens' quality of life through qualitative technological advances. Mihye Yi is also Member of an expert committee on key infrastructure technology in National Science & Technology Commission (NSTC) and editorial board member of the Science World Journal.
GTCK: Dr. Changmo Sung
Changmo Sung (Ph.D.) is president of GTCK (Green Technology Center Korea), an newly established government institution to coordinate and make green growth policies of related ministries and agencies, especially Interdepartmental Green Technologies R&D(budget $3.5 billion/year)of Korea, reporting to the President Office. GTCK aims to be the main Gateway of Korea for Global Green Technology Cooperation. He is also Committee member of National Science & Technology Commission (Regional Sector).
KIER: Dr. Yong-Seog Seo
Yong-Seog Seo (Ph.D.) is director of New and Renewable Division of KIER (Korea Institute of Energy Research). His interested research areas are Hydrogen Production, Fuel Cell, Reforming Catalysts and Catalytic Combustion.
KRICT: Dr. Changjin Lee
Changjin Lee (Ph.D.) is director of Advanced Materials Div. of KRICT (Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology). His interested research are Electronic Materials, Conjugated Molecules, Organic Semiconductors, Photocuring Materials, Printable Electronics Inks, Organic Photovoltaic Materials and OLED Materials. During his research activities, he successfully transferred various technologies to Industries for Commercialization.
Dr. Raoul Klinger
Dr Raoul Klingner is Director of International Business Development of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in Munich. The department manages the international activities and networks of Fraunhofer abroad and supports institutionalized cooperation with leading foreign research entities in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
Prof. Dr. –Ing. Detlef Stolten
Since 1998 Prof. Dr. –Ing. Detlef Stolten has been with the Jülich Research Center as the Director of the Institute for Energy-Fuel Cells. Two years later he became professor for Fuel Cell Technology at the University of Technology Aachen, Germany. His research activities are focused on energy process engineering for DMFC, HT-PEFC and SOFC systems, i.e. electrochemistry, stack technology, reforming process and systems engineering as well as system analysis. Fostering the cooperation between research and industry he was in charge of the NRW-Fuel Cell.

Jong Min Kim (Ph. D.) is Professor at the University of Oxford (Dept. of Engineering Science). He was Senior V. P. of SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology) and was also Chair of the Samsung Group Tech Conference. Presently, he is also member of the Technical Committee, IEEE/MTT-25, RF Nanotechnology.
Prof. Eicke R. Weber
Professor Eicke R. Weber is Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE and Professor for Physics / Solar Energy at the Albert-Ludwigs-University of Freiburg, Germany. The ISE institute is one of the world-leading research institutes in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency. The focus of Prof. Weber’s research is the analysis of lattice defects in Si and compound semiconductors. Since 2010 Prof. Weber is Member of acatech - the German Academy of Science and Engineering.
Nicolai Zarganis
Nicolai Zarganis is Director of Dept. of the New Energy Technology (Danish Energy Agency). He is responsible for the R&D policy and international cooperation and manager for the largest Danish energy technology funding program (EUDP).
Rob Kool
Rob Kool is Manager Energy & Climate Cooperation at NL Agency, the Netherlands. He is Chair of the IEA implementing agreement on Demand Side Management, Chair of the IEA Experts’ Group on R&D priority setting and evaluation and also Board member of the NGO ECEEE. Määttä, Timo Pekka
Määttä, Timo Pekka is Head of Unit, Information centre for energy efficiency and renewable energy, Motiva, Helsinki. Since 2004, he is Member of National Academy of Engineering, Korea. From 2004 to 2011, he was Chair of Samsung Group Tech Conference and Editor-in-chief of Tech Digest of Samsung Tech Conference. He is also Member of the Technical Committee, IEEE/MTT-25, RF Nanotechnology.
KITECH: Dr. Kyoung-Hoan Na
Dr. Kyoung-Hoan Na is the President of KITECH (Korea Institute of Industrial Technology) in Korea. KITECH was established to support the Korean industry, primarily its SMEs. By supporting SMEs, driving forces behind new industry creation as well as technological innovation, KITECH has been able to promote the nation’s dynamic economic growth.
MPK: Prof. Dong-Eon Kim
Prof. Dong Eon Kim is Director of Max Planck POSTECH / KOREA Res. Initiative and Center for Attosecond Science and Technology of POSTECH (Pohang University of Science and Technology), established by Max Planck Society of Germany and Korean Government aiming to play a role of research and development hub in Asia Pacific Rim. He is Professor of Physics Department at POSTECH, which is one of the most renowned University in Science and Technology in Asia.
Prof. Young-Hyang Park
Young-Hyang Park is Physical Oceanographer and Professor at National Museum of Natural Histories, Paris. His researches are mainly on the ocean circulation using direct and satellite ocean observations. He received a French Academy Prize “TCHIHATCHEF” awarded by the French Academy of Sciences for recognizing the achievement in the southern Indian Ocean research activities and a NASA Prize “William T. PECORA” awarded by the NASA for recognizing collective contributions to the satellite altimeter mission TOPEX/POSEIDON. He studied at Seoul National University and obtained a Ph.D. from University of Western Brittany, Brest, France.
Prof. Atilla Incecik
Atilla Incecik is Professor of Offshore Engineering and Head of Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow with 30 years teaching and research in theoretical and experimental hydrodynamics and hydro-mechanics of floating offshore structures. Professor Incecik is Research Manager of the recently established Industrial Doctoral Centre for Offshore Renewable Energy, supported by RCUK Energy Programme and the UK Energy Technology Institute. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Association of the European Universities involved in teaching and research in marine technology and related subjects (WEGEMT) and Editor- in-Chief of Ocean Engineering Journal.
Prof. Eonuh Rhee
Eonuh Rhee was born in Seoul, 1945. He studied architecture at Seoul National University with BA & MA and also at Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, UK. He held a professorship in Korea in 1976 before London. He worked and travelled over Europe and Africa for a few corporation’s assignment. His last corporational engagement was acting CEO of a German Engineering Co. in Leipzig for 5 years until January 2001. Returning back to London, he set up own consulting office and delivers lectures mainly on architecture and has keen interest in arts and history.
Dr. Keun-Wook Paik
Keun-Wook Paik is senior research fellow, Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES: http:// www.oxfordenergy.org/author/keun-wook-paik/), and associate fellow, Energy, Environment and Development Programme, Chatham House (formerly Royal Institute of International Affairs: http:// www.chathamhouse.org/about-us/directory/70626). He is author of Gas and Oil in Northeast Asia: Policies, Projects and Prospects (London: Royal Institute of International Affairs, 1995), and Sino- Russian Oil and Gas Cooperation: the Reality and Implications (Oxford University Press, 2012). Since 1996, Dr. Paik has been advising Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and American Institutions with regard to Geopolitics of Northeast Asian region’s transnational pipeline development, China’s natural gas expansion/going out strategies, and North Korea’s energy supply issues. In particular, Dr. Paik was appointed as advisor to Sino-Russian Oil and Gas Cooperation Committee, under China National Petroleum Corp during May 1998 - Dec 1999, and then appointed as advisor to the Chairman of Government, Sakha Republic, Russian Federation during Nov 2000 - Nov 2002. And Dr. Paik was a member of Working Group on Energy for DPRK during 2003-2005. During Jan-June 2006, Dr. Paik was invited as a consultant for the establishment of UNDP GTI Energy Board and Expert Commission under the Energy Board.
KOFWST: Dr. Myung-Ja Kim
Dr. Myung-Ja Kim currently serves as the President of the KOFWST and the Green Korea 21 Forum, the Visiting Distinguished Professor at KAIST, and a Member of the Presidential committee on the Social Cohesion. She served as the member of the 17th National Assembly (2004-2008), the Minister of Environment (1999-2003) and had been in academia for three decades as a professor of chemistry and history of science. Her publications include "Nuclear Dilemma", "Science and Modern Society", "The Oriental and Occidental Tradition of Science and Environmental Movement". She holds B.S. in Chemistry from Seoul National University and Ph. D. from the University of Virginia.
KFRI: Dr. Suk-Hoo Yoon
Suk-Hoo Yoon is the President of KFRI (Korea Food Research Institute) and Korean Society of Food Science and Technology. KFRI is a government-funded entity established in 1988 so as to contribute to the development of food, agriculture, forestry and fisheries industries and to the improvement in the quality life of the people by means of developing, diffusing and intensifying fundamental technologies in the field of food science. Yoon is also the Director/Professor, Food Biotechnology Division in University of Science and Technology, Adjunct Professor in Ewha Womans University in Korea, and Editor of Biocatalysis and Agricultural Biotechnology.
KIOST: Dr. Hyoun-Woo Kang
Dr. Hyoun-Woo Kang is a research scientist in Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST, a recently relaunched name of former KORDI, Korea Ocean Research & Development Institute). Before joining in the KORDI, he spent a couple of years in Hawaii as a post-doctoral fellow at the International Pacific Research Center after he got his Ph.D. in Seoul National University, 2001. His major research topics include global to regional ocean circulation modelling, interactions between the tropical cyclones and the western Pacific, and the climate projection. Since last October he has been working at Plymouth as the director of the Joint KIOST-PML Science Office hosted by Plymouth Marine Laboratory, UK. One of his main missions is to support the research collaboration between the researchers in PML and the KIOST, especially in the mutually interested themes such as nano-plastic pollutions, biogeochemical modelling, and satellite remote sensing. He himself is now working on the coupled physio-biogeochemical modelling in the Northwestern Pacific Ocean in collaboration with PML scientists as well.
BIOKON: Dr. Seitz Heike
Dr. Heike Seitz is Manager International Cooperation for the network BIOKON international –The Biomimetics Association. BIOKON international is a non-profit organisation with more than 100 members from 14 different countries. From 2001-2007 she was project manager for national standardization in the areas genetically modified organisms, biotechnology and biomimetics at the Association of German Engineers (VDI), where she supported the development of 8 German VDI-Guidelines in biomimetics. Previously she worked at the German Advisory Council on the Environment (SRU). Heike Seitz studied biology and prepared her PhD Thesis at the university hospital in Bonn in the field of human parasites.
Dr. Seung Seo Lee
Dr. Seung Seo Lee read Chemistry in Seoul National University for B. Sc. and M.Sc. degrees and spent 6 years in the pharmaceutical industry before moving to Vancouver, BC, Canada to continue to Ph. D. program in Chemistry at University of British Columbia. After completing Ph.D., he has performed research in University of Cambridge and University of Oxford, and currently joined the School of Chemistry at University of Southampton as a faculty member. As the track record including the first elucidation of novel mechanisms of several enzymes shows, his research interest is in enzyme mechanism, protein chemistry and chemical biology of enzymes.
Dr. Kyeong Kyu Kim
Dr. Kyeong Kyu Kim received PhD in Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, and had postdoctoral training in the University of California, Berkeley, USA. He has been working towards the structural elucidation of biological macromolecules and the structure-based functional identification using multidisciplinary approaches. His research interests are focused on proteolytic enzymes, Z-DNA & Z-DNA binding proteins, bacterial pathogenesis and cell signaling. He is also interested in structure-based approaches to the rational design of biomedically active substances.
ISA: Dr. Seog-Jeong Lee
Dr. Seog-Jeong Lee was from 2002 to 2012 Professor for Urban Design at the Urban Planning faculty of the Hanyang University, Korea . Since 1995, she is a Partner of ISA (Internationales Stadtbauatelier) in Stuttgart, Germany. ISA is an international and interdisciplinary group of urban planners, architects, landscape architects, geographers and interior designers. Since its founding in 1978, ISA has been conducting research and practical work in Europe, Asia and South America.

Dr. Dong Hee Jung
Dong-Hee Jeong (Ph.D.) is Director General of Presidential Committee of Green Growth (PCGG). Before he took the job at the PCGG, he had served various divisions relating industrial technologies at the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy and served as Executive Official for Information Science and Technology Affairs at the Presidential Secretariat.
Dr. Young-Keun Lee
Dr. Young-Keun Lee is a vice president of SK Innovation Global Technology (SKIGT). SK Innovation is at the center of Korea’s energy and chemical industries. And SKIGT is the core technology center of SK Innovation for the R&D of refining, new energy, petrochemicals, catalyst and processes, new materials, and batteries. Previously, Dr. Young-Keun Lee was a head of Material R&D Center. Now, he is leading the research and development of new materials, including the PV project, as a Science Advisor.
Dr. Hans Dieter Hermes
Dr. Hans Dieter Hermes is Director Business Development Biomass at Vattenfall and member of the Vattenfall Group Biomass Management Team.
From 2007-2009 he was head of the Vattenfall Carbon Fund, developing and establishing the business within Vattenfall and world wide with CDM/JI projects for purchasing primary emission reduction certificates.
Hans is a mechanical engineer with 18 years of professional and management experience in the energy sector. He started his career as project manager for energy efficiency implementation programs for the European Commission, obtaining his PhD in energy economics.

Dr. So-Yeon Yi
Dr. Soyeon Yi is the first Korean Astronaut reaching space in the year 2008. She is Ph. D. graduate of KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) in Bio and Brain Engineering. After her successful flight, she works as a senior researcher at KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) as well as acting as Korea's S&T ambassador.
